Vintage Black Pride Beer Tee
Black Pride Beer launched in 1969 in Southside Chicago, IL. Operated by Black Pride, Inc., it was not only a beer label, it was a scalable business model designed to increase economic opportunities for Blacks in the 1970s. Founded by Edward J. McClellan, BPI had aspired to offer low cost franchises as a vehicle for financial independence for disenfranchised people. "Black Pride, Inc., is in every respect a bootstrap, grass roots endeavor. Our investors are 'plain folk' - marginal income people who are pulling together without waiting for the man's help." - Edward J. McClellan.
